Dallas/Fort Worth Area Fire Equipment News

Submitting Guidelines - this section under construction, please tell me what you think of it.

I need your help to keep the news flowing. Much of the information on this site has been sent to me, from someone like you. If you have news about a new fire apparatus, stations, equipment, events or anything that might be of interest, please let me know, so I can share it with all those who visit this site, if appropriate.

I like to credit the source of my information by firstname (to keep it informal and fun, since this is a hobby for me), so unless you tell me otherwise, I'll add something like "Thanks to Your First Name Here" to the text portion of the news. If you want to be anonymous, that's ok, just make sure you tell me in your email.

Photos: If you include a photo with your news item, please let me know who to credit, if you did not take the photo yourself. For photos, I include something like "www.Bensware.com Photo Courtesy of Your Name Here including last name", or "www.Bensware.com Photo Courtesy of Your Fire Department's Name Here", let me know what you prefer. Try to provide the best photo you can. The common "3/4" shot, where the front and left side are facing the sun(and not in shadows), are ideal. Please don't be offended if I don't use your photo, or all of the photos you send. I always want to see the newest apparatus in the area, even if the photo doesn't get used. I will probably edit, crop, and resize the photo for the web. If a better photo of an apparatus is submitted later, it may replace a lesser quality photo. Again, please don't be offended, but I want to share the best images possible. Fire Apparatus Journal has a great article by Dennis Maag on photographing fire apparatus here.

Things to include: The more information you can provide the better, like year, make, model, and specs on an apparatus, where it will be stationed, what unit it is replacing, when it entered service, the company it was purchased from, etc. If you don't have all that, but know it's a new apparatus, send it anyway. Chances are another visitor will chime in and help complete the information.

News Sharing: I've been asked to share the new apparatus items on my site with Texas-Fire.com. Unless you tell me otherwise in your email, items submitted may be picked up by Texas-Fire.com, and credit given back to my site. If you submit a photo, then the photo may also be picked up with the crediting as described above in "Photos".
